What’s the first thing you do when you’ve accomplished something– besides calling your family? Chances are you might celebrate with a nice cold beer. And guess what? So does, Gina Rodriguez! Recently the Jane the Virgin star partnered up with Stella Artois beer to celebrate her housewarming party.

The 33-year-old actress settled in her new home in Los Angeles, alongside her family and friends to celebrate the new move and show how Latinos rejoice for special occasions. The partnership was seamless since Rodriguez aligned with Stella’s vison around inclusion and bringing people together.

In a press release, Harry Lewis, VP of Stella Artois said, “This collaboration with Gina and T Brand Studio has opened the door for our brand to engage with a new, diverse set of influential hosts and share even more memorable experiences to keep our consumers inspired.” From sharing dishes to dancing salsa — the Boricua beauty showed us what it’s like being her guest! We caught up with the brunette beauty on her favorite hosting tip, dishes, and more. [pagebreak]

As a Latina, we’re known for entertaining and hosting our guests. Did your parents or grandparent pass down any cool traditions for the holidays?

Traditions in my household are good food and dancing. My parents always told stories and jokes and had everyone laughing and smiling. We played games at family reunions, Loteria (Latino bingo), blackjack/poker or charades. Our tradition is to make people feel like family. So that’s what I do.

What are some of your go-to Puerto Rican dishes to pair with the refreshing taste of Stella Artois?

Mofongo! Any kind of Mofongo but my personal must-have is shrimp mofongo. Stella Artois goes well with seafood. But also with chicken. It’s a light beer so pairing it with heavy things like tacos (I know not Puerto Rican but Latino none the less!) helps lighten the meal for me. I like it.

What does the “Host One to Remember” campaign mean to you?

To me, it was an opportunity to acknowledge this milestone in my life and capture that memory for forever. I will never forget this campaign because it marked an exact moment in my life that meant I worked my ass off and look, I did it! I wanted that when I first bought my home. I wanted to celebrate what was years of hard work to get my first home. And to share it with people feels like “look, we can do this when we work hard, good things come out of it.” Others have shown me that path before, and now I hope I can inspire someone else. Why was it essential for you to partner with Stella Artois?

It’s my favorite beer. They came with the offer, and for me, it was a no-brainer. My favorite beer wants to celebrate me buying my first house in a group of diverse, badass influencers?!? Yes. Please. This is a great blessing.

What’s your personal gop-to Stella Artois – beer or cider, and why?

I love both. Very different occasion for me. Cider is a holiday beer, and I like it during holidays. All of the holidays. But the cold Stella Artois lager is like a reward after a long day shooting “Jane The Virgin” with a plate of tacos and my smiling boyfriend. That’s perfection to me.

How do you balance your new healthy lifestyle and enjoying a cold beer?

Well, by caring for my body and my health I now feel like beer is acceptable. I work so hard that I am allowed to have a cold Stella Artois, and it feels good. I am continually burning calories (got to get in those squats), so I can indulge all I want!
