There Are Now Spicy Starburst and Spicy Skittles Candy

Word at the Sweets & Snacks Expo happening in Chicago this week (yeah, that’s a real event): Wrigley, makers of Skittles and Starburst, is releasing spicy versions of both products. We don’t know why.

According to People, the new Skittles flavors are Fiery Watermelon, Blazin’ Mango, Flamin’ Orange, Sizzlin’ Strawberry, and Lemon Spark. Why are there no “g”s on the words? We don’t know that either. The new Starburst flavors include the aforementioned watermelon and orange and add on a Strawberry Mango and a Pipin’ Pineapple.

The writer who tried them said the candies cause a “chili-like burn on your tongue”, which apparently some people like in candy. And everything else since there’s been a noticeable uptick in spicy versions of perfectly fine products.

Is chili-spiced, hot something the new unicorn trend? We’re over it and it hasn’t even begun. We like spicy foods and the sweet/spicy combo is a classic (obvs) but we’re at real risk of hitting fetish levels. And we don’t want to watch another video of “watch these people try spicy things and cry”.
