Brazilian super star chef Alex Atala has a new project in the works: a casual restaurant in Sao Paolo opening this April. Thank the food gods.

Atala already runs D.O.M., currently ranked number 11 on the World’s 50 Best Restaurant’s list, and Acougue Central, a combo restaurant and butcher shop. Homeboy keeps busy. He’s also the only Brazilian chef to earn two Michelin stars, starred in Neflix’s Chef’s Table, and runs the ATA Institute (which helped bring indigenous ingredients to the city’s market and to Brazilian consumers, not just restaurants).
Anyways, Atala just announced that he’ll be opening a “healthy, organic restaurant” with a mix of everything: waiter service, counter service, and take-out. Additionally, they’ll be “stations… equipped with everything you need to prepare that ingredient in many ways.”
And like at D.O.M., the focus will be on native ingredients: tapioca, Brazilian cheeses, acai berries. This will be the first casual spot for Atala and he’s excited:
“I believe it differentiates from the other restaurants in its concept as a whole: quick, casual, sustainable, healthy, organic,” he said. “Actually, maybe it is safe to say it will be different from any other restaurant in São Paulo.”
Until it’s open, Atala is revealing glimpses on his Insta if you want to stalk that.
