Our beloved avocado found a new home! The delicious and oh so trendy Mexican fruit inspired three Italian entrepreneurs (under 30 no less!) to open Avocaderia, the first all-avocado restaurant, at Industry City, right on the waterfront of Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

This avocado venture started when Francesco Brachetti, a Florence native, moved to Mexico and discovered the local super fruit. Francesco was marveled by the flavor and properties of aguacates and wanted to bring fresh and simple recipes to the stateside masses so more could enjoy the versatility of this fruit. When back in New York he called his friend Alessandro Biggi and together they recruited Brachetti’s cousin and chef Alberto Gramini. Together they have compiled the creative menu of Avocaderia. Though the menu is influenced by a myriad of cuisines (like Mexican, Japanese, and Egyptian), each individual dish, from the toasts to the tacos, highlights the avocado in all its glory.
For the group it is very important that they only obtain their Mexican avocados using fair trade practices: “all avocados used in the creation of Avocaderia’s unparalleled menu will be organic, farmed in the Mexican state of Michoacán by a consortium of local farmers, and fairly traded to the US. Avocaderia only works with suppliers respectful of the environment and the rights of their employees.”
Avocaderia is proposing a healthier fast food concept with affordable prices for a nutritious and satisfying meal.
