When the last Oscar was awarded last night (um, twice? That was weird.), winners and nominees high tailed it out of the theater and to the best part in town, the 89th Acadamy Awards Governors Ball. Here’s what they ate.

Whether they were celebrating big wins (Mahershala Ali! Viola Davis!) or nursing a lost (again, La La Land, that was weird), you could probably find most celebrities at the Oscars’ official after party and chowing down. For the 23rd consecutive year Wolfgang Puck and his team catered the event and by now, he’s learned a thing or two.
There were more than 50 items on the menu with food coming out in 15-minute increments. The menu included everything from the hearty and indulgent to the light and healthy as well as nut-, gluten-, dairy-, and meat-free options. This is Hollywood after all.
Some stand outs: gold-dusted popcorn, parsnip agnolotti, lobster corn dogs, taro root tacos with shrimp, Wagyu short ribs with parmesan funnel cakes, and spicy gougères topped with black truffle powder. In keeping with tradition, Puck and his crew will also be serving Oscar-shaped matzo crackers with smoked salmon. Attendees can get baked potatoes with caviar or Dover sole, as well as poke and sushi made-to-order. And the dessert station will have red velvet waffles, lava cakes, and a “chocolate buffet.”
In case you’re wondering, chefs will be using and making: 250 Maine lobsters, 60 sides of smoked salmon, 10 kilos of American farm-raised caviar, 6,000 Kobe beef mini sliders, 325 pounds sticky rice, 250 pounds parmesan reggiano, 400 pounds Snake River Farms Wagyu boneless short rib, 4250 pieces handmade gnoccetti, 500 pounds of chocolate, 1,050 handmade waffle cone, and 30 pounds edible gold dust.
That 30 pounds of gold dust is for those famous chocolate statues. Every year, Puck and his team make thousands of edible chocolate Oscar statues dusted in real gold for the attendees.
At the bar, stars toasted with Francis Ford Coppola Wines (more than 2,000 bottles); Piper-Heidsieck special limited-edition champagne and Oscar-branded magnums; and Special Hilhaven Lodge Old Fashioned cocktails.
Whew. Do they give out a best chef Oscar?
