Wonder Woman is about to hit the big screen, premiering in early June and making history as the first female-led super hero film. And red, white, and blue DC Comics themed food is already starting to pop up: Cold Stone Creamery has a limited-edition Wonder Woman flavor, sundae, and cupcake and Tampa-based Datz has a towering burger. And this leaves us asking: Would Diana Prince agree?

Maybe. Maybe Diana Prince loves chocolate and she’d be all about her promotional flavor at Cold Stone, called Dark Chocolate Triple Berry Ice Cream. It’s used in a sundae called the Women Woman Berry Bold that uses the ice cream and tops it with chocolate shavings, raspberries, and gold glitter. Those flavors are present in Cold Stone’s new cupcake called Triple Berry Wonder, which is red velvet with the aforementioned ice cream, chocolate frosting, gold glitter, and a WW chocolate disc.
Tampa-based Datz is known for its crazy burger creations and maybe the Amazon Princess would be into this non-dainty, meaty tower: blue bun with stars made of white cheese, two patties, lettuce, tomato, red onions, pineapple, a gold middle bun, and a red bottom bun. The whole thing is half a foot tall and needs a skewer for support. (We don’t know how you eat it, don’t ask.)
We love Wonder Woman, make no mistake. We ran around with cuffs and a crown for days on end fighting evil (our siblings). And as graphic novel readers (and daughters of fierce moms), we followed Wonder Woman closely. We know she has a complicated relationship with feminism but we also know that she’s been around for more than 70 years (dying twice in the process) and is still fighting. She is strong, she doesn’t give up, and she doesn’t need a prince to save her.
So would she be in to chocolate, glitter, and ridiculous burger creations? Not sure. But if by chance these foods inspire more people to go watch the movie (or gasp, read the graphic novels!), then that’ll be a good day.
