Talk about a guilty pleasure: Frito-Lay is recalling two jalapeno flavored potato chip products due to Salmonella, Lay’s Kettle Cooked Potato Chips and jalapeno flavored Miss Vickie’s Kettle Cooked potato chips.

Yikes. In a statement on the FDA website, Frito-Lay said that it had not found any Salmonella in their supply but that a supplier they used recalled a seasoning that included compromised jalapeno powder. So they’re recalling products “out of an abundance of caution.”

So head to your pantry (or purse, we won’t judge) right now and check your snack bags. The chips in the recall were sold in retail stores and vending machines and have a “guaranteed fresh” date of July 4 or earlier. If you bought a multi pack, check for bags that have a “use by” date of June 20 or earlier. Get rid of them. We’ll wait.

Salmonella infections can be life-threatening (as opposed to just incredibly annoying) for young children, pregnant women, and the elderly. If you’re concerned you accidentally ate contaminated food or are exhibiting any symptoms, check with your doc right away.
