Mun (Bodega Casarena, Brandsen 505.Luján de Cuyo. Mendoza. +54 261 4231 573)
This small boutique winery, with wines by top tier Mendoza winemaker Alejandro Sejanovich, easily has the most interesting dining proposition going: Korean-born, Los Angeles trained chef, Kim Mun has recently taken up residence in their cellar. After his hugely successful Casa Mun in Buenos Aires, he moved to the winery to pair Sauvignon Blanc with his spicy dishes, and recently developed the perfect Pinot Noir for his sushi. For now, Mun serves up his signature fusion Asian-Argentine in the barrel room of the Casarena winery on Saturdays; a dazzling five course meal paired with a creative flair that upends the idea that Asian food is best left for beer. In April, he will open a new restaurant and serve a tasting menu five days a week, and on Sundays he will offer an inspired Argentine vs Korean barbecue. Watch this space, carefully.
