The 2016 Rio Olympics have already had major food feats – first, with Chef Massimo Bottura‘s efforts to limit food waste at the Games; and second, with Chef Richard Blais’ stellar video series with Olympic athletes, titled “Cooking with Team USA.” New reports, however, show that Rio may be low on food, leaving Olympics-goers weak when cheering on their favorite athletes.

Local Rio site Extra reported that spectators have been waiting on hour-long lines only to find that food has run out by the time they reach the vendor. The low food supply started even as early as the first day of the Games on Friday. Other issues include food stations closing early and problems with ticketed ordering.

These reports come as a shock, being that the Olympic village was set to prepare more than 460,000 pounds of food. Though they couldn’t definitively point to the reason for the scarcity, Rio 2016 reps issued a general apology to spectators, hoping for better in days to come. “Following improvements, the lines are now back to normal. We appreciate the patience and understanding shown by fans,” the statement read.

Fingers crossed for any signs of pão de queijo being passed around in the stands.
