It’s been just one week since America was faced with one of the most anxiety-inducing 24 hours known as Election Day. While the country may have been divided with their ballots, one thing united us all, and that, of course, was alcohol.
Liquor delivery service Drizly has officially issued a report showing an exact breakdown of Americans’ drinking habits on November the 8th. The service, which links customers with local liquor stores, saw a whopping 86% increase in sales just that night alone – because how else were we to cope with the poll results rolling in at a snail’s pace?
And to no one’s surprise, drinkers needed something a little stronger to be able to handle the anguish from the night. “Beer is typically the top category for us… it looks like people needed something a little stronger on Tuesday night,” Trisha Antonsen, chief cocktail officer explained. Tito’s Vodka and Jack Daniel’s Whiskey proved to be a couple of top contenders throughout the night.
New Yorkers did the rest of the country proud by ordering the most alcohol compared to other cities. Perhaps it had something to do with both presidential candidates being in the same vicinity as them.
Chances are, we’ll be doing just as much drink ordering over the next four years. Check out the infographic below for more results:
