    Bastones de Azucar (Sugar Wands)

This recipe is a snap, and harkens back to the Bastones de Azucar seen in most panaderias across Latin America. These crispy, buttery treats are especially delicious with hot tea, coffee or served for dunking in spicy hot chocolate.

17.3-ounce package frozen puff pastry, thawed
    colored granulated sugar
Preheat the oven to 400F. Unfold the pastry, and roll slightly with a rolling pin to flatten the folds. Cut the pastry into 1-inch wide strips; you should get 18 bastones out of one package of puff pastry.
Take one strip of the puff pastry, and coat one side completely with sugar. Twist the strip, and place on an ungreased baking sheet. Prepare all of the pastry strips in the same fashion.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the baston is golden brown on the edges. Cool on a wire rack.
