Baked Sweet Plantains filled with Cheese and Cream

Baked Sweet Plantains filled with Cheese and Cream are an easy, homey dish from Colombia that will make Latinos feel close to home when they’re abroad. The recipe requires a fresh, juicy cheese like queso fresco or queso panela, and Salvadoran cream.

    Ingredients
    1
    sweet plantain
    2
    tablespoons
    Queso fresco
    2
    tablespoons
    Salvadorean cream
    *
    butter
    Directions
    Turn the oven to 350F.
Cut the plantain in 2 pieces, and make a slit through the middle. Fry in a frying pan over medium heat for 15 minutes, while the oven gets hot.
When golden, put in a bowl with some butter so they don’t stick to each other.
Open the cut you previously made, and fill with cheese. Bake until they are ready (about 20-25 minutes).
Once ready, pour the cream over them.
