President Obama knows how to kick back when not in the White House, and who better to do it with than Anthony Bourdain?
The unlikely duo enjoyed Vietnamese food at Bún chả Hương Liên, a popular restaurant near Hanoi’s “old quarter” on Monday night.
Amidst streets swarming with onlookers hoping to get a glimpse of Obama in action, Bourdain hosted the president for a casual meal composed of traditional pho and other authentic Vietnamese delicasies. Their meetup will appear on an upcoming episode of Parts Unknown.
It wasn’t the first time POTUS showed off his culinary prowess. Back in March, he was spotted in Austin, TX at SXSW, placing an impressive taco order at local hotspot Torchy Taco’s. Like a good politician, he ordered a variety of tacos with names like the Democrat, the Republican, and the Independent.
Taco culture seems to run in the first family. Last year, First Lady Michelle Obama made delicious, fresh tacos with DC area students in an effort to promote healthy eating.
Hats off to Bourdain, too, for reportedly picking up the whopping $6.00 check that night.
