Nothing tastes as good as a celebratory meal. An ice cream cone after a soccer match or a juicy burger after a stressful work presentation, perhaps? One Olympic gymnast, however, just won gold and already has her eyes set on the meal she’ll be indulging in when back home in native New Jersey.
After Team USA’s big win on Tuesday, Hernandez’s brother took to Instagram to share just how proud he is of her – and the meal he can’t wait to spoil her with upon her return from Rio.
“You’re the toughest little 16 year old I’ve ever met and I’m not saying that just cause I’m a proud bro. Remember to give God his glory always!” he wrote. “Love you sis and can’t wait to see you kill it Monday as well. As soon as you land we’re going straight to Wawa.”
The chain, known for affordable, convenient and quick food, is currently only in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Florida and Hernandez’s home state of New Jersey. Wawa spokeswoman Lori Bruce expressed her congratulations for the champion’s win, saying “We’re so honored and humbled to be a part of this hometown hero’s life!”
Sure, we hoped the Puerto Rican would choose mami’s empanadas as her first meal back, but who can resist an all-around classic American lunch? Good looks, Laurie!
