For one night only, Mexico is coming to California: renowned chef Javier Plascensia is joining chef (and his cousin!) Christy Vega in the kitchen of Casa Vega for the restaurant’s 60th anniversary party on Saturday, July 16th. And you’re invited!

The dinner, called “Valley Meets the Valley”, will kick off with a cocktail reception and proceed to a seven course meal that will feature both dishes from Casa Vega and custom creations from Plasencia.

“I’m really excited to cook in such an amazing Los Angeles institution,” Plascensia said. “I have lots of respect for the Vega family, especially my uncle Ray. I feel honored to be cooking with Christy and the Casa Vega team—I know it will be a very special evening for family, friends, and clients. I’m very proud to bring my style of Mexican cooking to this event. Everything is going to taste delicious, especially their famous margaritas!”

At the bar: a tequila tasting hosted by Roca Patron and specialty cocktails. And on the menu: Casa Vega’s (CV’s) famous lobster guac; Javier Plascenia’s (JP’s) evo poached Baja yellowtail with crunchy eggplant; Christy Vega’s roasted poblano soup; JP’s shrimp and bone marrow sope; Vega’s chocolate ganache tequila pots; and JP’s smoked sweet corn cake with nata ice cream.

Tickets are $109, with a portion of proceeds going to the Los Angeles food bank. Get yours here. Congrats to Casa Vega and buen provecho!
