The World Series may have come and gone (congrats, Cubs fans!), but luckily, it’s not too late to enjoy a timely baseball brew.
Samuel Adams has created a limited-edition beer, in honor of Boston icon and baseball superstar, David Ortiz AKA Big Papi. The Dominican player, who retired at the end of this season, is known for his serious batting skills – so it’s no surprise that his brew is titled the “Big Hapi”. The beer, described as a “heavy hitting double IPA brewed with mango”, is available only to local Bostononians (which is just what Big Papi would want, being that he’s a die-hard Boston dude.)
The company is giving out exactly 541 bottles – one for each homerun that Ortiz hit throughout his 19-year career. The beer will be sold exclusively at the Samuel Adams Boston Brewery, and all proceeds will go to the player’s foundation, The David Ortiz Children’s Fund.
