Chef José Andrés is bringing his Spanish food and drink expertise to a massive food hall in NYC in 2018, but luckily, he isn’t doing it alone.
Andrés tapped two fellow Spaniards, who will surely be of use to the 35,000 square-foot project: Ferran Adrià and brother Albert Adrià, of acclaimed Spanish restaurant El Bulli. The triple threat team will create a food hall that is a “dynamic, all-day destination for Spanish food, drink, and culture.” The space will also be a “world class tapas bar” and a top-tier shopping destination, according to the New York City’s Hudson Yards.
The food hall will be located under the High Line at 30th Street and 10th Avenue, where Andres will take on an Eataly-style concept of his own. This project, however, will reportedly be much more than Mario Batali’s location – “It’s more than a food hall,” they say.
Maybe that’s why Andrés enlisted the most important brothers in Spanish cuisine to join the team. This won’t be the chef’s first collaboration with the Adrià’s, though. The 47-year-old worked under Ferran in the late ’80s – back when the two were best friends and Andrés happened to get fired from the gig. Times have (hopefully) changed, and the Spanish chefs will simply be focusing on creating an authentic eating experience.
Aside from the brothers, both David Chang and Thomas Keller have also been confirmed to open spots in the soon-to-be food hall next year.
