It’s grilling season and though we love grilled food, before we gathered up the courage to try it ourselves, lighting a charcoal grill seemed like a daunting task. There’s fire and smoke and charcoal and lighter fluid… But rest easy. Lighting a charcoal grill is actually a simple process. And since charcoal grills are small, portable, and inexpensive, you can grab a small grill and have delightful meals all summer long.
Prep your grill.
Start by cleaning any ash, dirt, or debris from your grill or grate. This will ensure you’ll get a clean flavor on your dishes (none of last night’s meal) and minimize any flare ups. Then open up the vents at the bottom of your grill and remove the grate.
