Who says wine can only be red or white? Spanish wine company Gik is redefining color norms for vino as we know it.
The company has created a bright blue, 11.5% ABV wine by mixing red and white grapes together, along with two organic ingredients, indigo and anthocyanin. The wine, which contains no added sugar, was created over the past two years, in collaboration with the University of the Basque Country and Food Technology research departments.
As expected, the new beverage was invented by six young innovators. On the product, they explain, “Once having selected the wine industry as our battlefield, we set about creating a radically different product, changing the colour to a vibrant blue and making the wine sweeter and easier to drink.” They also note that the color blue is associated with a “poetic idea” – representing movement, innovation and infinity, similar to the ocean.
Before purchasing online, be sure your friends are cool with sipping on wine that resembles the Caribbean ocean.
