A great drink for fall and winter, the Kahlúa Arroz con Leche Martini is TLK’s featured drink this month. In essence, the Arroz con Leche Martini is a revived espresso martini with hints of vanilla. Easy to make, it can be served as a digestive or aperitif. The condensed milk with which it is made creates a thickness that is reminiscent of eggnog or the popular Peruvian drink algarrobina, and given these similarities, it’s the perfect cocktail for the upcoming holiday season.

To give Kahlúa’s Arroz con Leche Martini a little more complexity, a bar spoon of any anise based liquor will give this cocktail a more well rounded, two-toned profile. I recommend Pernod Anise (though any anise-based liquor will do).  Another way to enhance the drink is to add ½ ounce of egg white to the recipe. Though this cocktail is already heavy, the froth from the egg whites seemed to bind all of the ingredients together nicely. To truly embrace the holiday spirit, I would replace the condensed milk with eggnog, and if serving for Christmas, rim the glass with a crushed candy cane powder.

Want a dessert to complement Kahlúa’s Arroz con Leche Martini? We think this cake recipe, which uses the exact same ingredients as the drink, is nothing short of amazing.  Go ahead; indulge. It’s almost the holiday season!
