Out with the old, in with the new. That’s the motto as we move into el año nuevo – but not before reviewing some of the best eats of 2015.
The New York Times released its annual list of Top New York Restaurants, ranking the best spots – fancy, casual and otherwise – of the past year.
Taking the #1 spot is Enrique Olvera’s Cosme, which, according to the Times, “dared New York to see Mexican food in new ways.” Cosme is Olvera’s first New York venture. “I’ve always felt close to New York and wanted to come back and cook where it all started for me,” Olvera told The Latin Kitchen in a 2014 interview following the restaurant’s opening.
The menu at Cosme offers “dishes rooted in Mexican flavors and traditions, while also celebrating local and seasonal ingredients from the Hudson Valley and surrounding region.” The Times notes, “…the cooking is why reservations are hard to come by: subtle, sensitive and smart-looking explorations of Mexican tastes and traditions.”
