Oh, Valentine’s Day. Chocolates, candy hearts, and, if you have little ones, so many Valentine’s Day cards. You know how it goes, the day rolls around and you realize you have lots of tiny gifts to give to lots of tiny friends. And though we all have great intentions, coming up with clever ways to create quick, cut, and inexpensive valentines for all the kids on your list can be a daunting task. Worry not, we’re here to help! Here is a quick and easy party favor made with materials you probably have laying around the house: personalized candy tubes. The best part: they’re done in just a few minutes! Then have you little helps fill each one with candy. What kid wouldn’t love that?
Materials
Toilet paper tubes
Fancy paper: wrapping paper, construction paper, scrapbooking paper, etc.
Double-sided tape or glue
White electrical tape (optional)
White paper
Markers
Tissue Paper
Pre-wrapped candy
Clear cellophane
Pipe cleaners
Directions
1. Tape or glue the fancy paper to the tube. I like to use double-sided tape—especially for thin papers like wrapping paper—because the paper won’t wrinkle. Kids will like it because it will adhere immediately without waiting for the glue to dry. For thicker papers, like glitter paper, a bit of electrical tape keeps the paper in place with a neat finish.
2. Make uniform hearts for labels or tags by making a template and then trace that template onto white paper. Write names or words inside each heart outline, then cut out each heart. With glue or tape, adhere one heart to each tube.
3. Stuff one end of the tube with tissue paper. Fill the tube with pre-wrapped candy and close the open end of the tube with more tissue paper.
4. Wrap the adorable little package with clear cellophane and tie the ends with pipe cleaners.
