Denise was born and raised in Brazil, where she worked for many years as a lawyer before immigrating to the United States in 2002. Subsequently, she has become a Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef, cooking instructor, recipe and menu developer, and food writer with special expertise in the cuisine of her native country.

Denise is also the author of From Brazil To You, an English-language blogs dedicated to Brazilian cuisine. The blog features Brazilian food recipes, stories, and photography. Her writing and recipes have appeared on The Daily Meal, BlogHer Network, and many other influential sites. She is happy to count among her previous clients Arla Foods USA, The NYC NORTH Festival, Prosciutto di Parma, Fiji Water, and restaurant, Bocadillos Tapas & Vinhos in Brazil. She currently contributes to Honest Cooking Magazine and Epicurious Community Table. Denise lives in Texas with her husband and children.
