Now you can get a taste of Puerto Rico in our nation’s capital: celebrated chef Wilo Benet is heading to Mio in Washington D.C. for a two week stint in the kitchen and a special Father’s Day brunch.

Benet, who is known for combining traditional Puerto Rican ingredients with Asian and European flavors, will develop a la carte dishes and a special menu during this time at Mio.

For the special Father’s Day Brunch, happening June 15, guests can munch on: a spicy sofrito and Peruvian yellow chile tuna tartar; octopus with green apples and ripe plantains; mini bistec sandwiches with aioli mayo ketchup and fries; corned beef sherry stew; poached eggs with morcilla sausage; marinated swordfish with a red wine onion compote; and Kurobuta pork cheeks with polenta and lomo de pata negra.

And save room for something sweet! For dessert, Benet is whipping up a mango terrine with raspberries and a tarragon and star anise pineapple croissant bread pudding with coconut sauce.

Mio is open Monday through Friday from 11:30 am to 10 pm and Saturdays from 5 pm to 11 pm. Benet’s Father’s Day Brunch will be held on Sunday, June 15, from 11:30 to 2:30 pm. For reservations, click here.
