The Chew is having a grand Cinco de Mayo party today – and The Latin Kitchen was granted exclusive behind-the-scenes access!
ABC’s daytime talk and cooking show taped the special episode yesterday morning in celebration of the unofficial holiday (though it’s official in our books!) and the new Latin section on their website dedicated to all things Latin food. Titled “Latin Flavors”, the new website tab launches today.
TLK editor Marie Elena Martinez headed to the set to join in on the fun and play the part of an official taste tester (life is hard!). The show, which kicked off with margaritas, featured ways to create some interesting (and tasty) twists on classic guacamole, including one made with blue cheese and bacon, another with lump crab meat, and the last with goat cheese. Co-hosts Michael Symon and the very dance-happy Carla Hall made tortilla chips for the guacamole with the help of Daphne Oz.
Hungry yet?
Save room for guest chef Pati Jinich‘s chipotle rubbed pork ribs, mouthwatering, smoky, and spicy. The Chew’s episode finished up with a feature on Mexican street food and ways to create a badass Cinco de Mayo party on the cheap. (Get in on the fun and check out our recipe for grilled corn on the cob. Pati’s recipes can be found on The Chew’s website.
The Chew airs today at 1 pm EST on ABC. In the meantime, check out our exclusive behind-the-scenes video and interviews.
Buen Provecho!
