It’s time to hit the phones and make a reservation right now. Danny Meyer is opening two new restaurants; one in New York City and one in Washington D.C.

If you’re not sure why we’re so excited, here’s the back story: Danny Meyer is the man behind Union Square Hospitality Group, which runs two classic and beloved establishments, Gramercy Tavern and Union Square Café. He’s also the man behind worldwide phenomenon Shake Shack.
As per Eater, he’s just announced two new spots in the works. In NYC, USHG will be opening a mixed use space in the building that was once One Chase Manhattan Plaza. It will be on the 60th floor with 360-degrees views and will be the highest ballroom in the city.
The space was already operated by USHG’s catering and events group and in addition to the restaurant, there will be a private event space with room for up to three events and 800 people. (That’s gonna be some wedding.)
But don’t panic if it sounds too fancy for you. Meyer told Eater: “I want to make a restaurant that I would want to go even if it did not have a great view, that I would want to go to frequently.”
Let’s hope the price point reflects that.
Over in D.C., Meyer is opening up his “first-second” Union Square Café at Capitol Crossing, a mixed-use space. USC was industry changing when it opened in 1985, showcasing ingredients from the only-blocks-away greenmarket and making it popular to eat at the bar. (We figured that was always a thing. Who knew?)
No word yet on a name for the NYC hot spot and USC in D.C. might open in 2018.
In the meantime, Shake Shack, anyone?
