This Mexican avocado toast is more than just a toast with avocado. It is a magical food combination idea that can be used as breakfast, lunch, or even dinner. Avocado and toast are just the base for an unlimited combinations. Of course, you could eat it as is … or you can add some extra toppings. This recipe is more about teaching you a technique. And with it, go wild!

To this base you could give any flavor profile, you could add some siracha-mayo, to give it an umami asian flavor; or some fresh herbs or pesto to go to in an Italian direction. Or maybe some black olives, a dash of sea salt, and some red chili pepper flakes to head in a more Mediterranean way.

For this recipe I chose to go the Latin way, the Mexican healthy way. I mix the avocado with lemon juice and salt and then spread it over a piece of  toasted bread. To make it really healthy, please watch out the quality of the ingredients of the sandwich bread or loaf of bread you choose. Remember to read the labels, buy the one with the least ingredients, and the best one you can afford. Choosing a good piece of bread will do a huge difference in flavor, texture, and your health.

To finish the avocado toast and sprinkle some extra healthiness on top, add hemp seeds. Hemp seeds will give you an extra boost of proteins, vitamins, and minerals. This mini seeds are small in size but huge on flavor and benefits. I also like a lot the texture they give to the avocado toast. To finish this “dish”  I love serrano peppers; they go with every thing well and always give a spicy and bright note to everything they touch. I do take the seeds and veins out, but if you can handle the heat, just leave them in.

I wonder what I’ll do with my next piece of avocado toast…
