A warm flour tortilla brimming with fresh scrambled eggs and chile for breakfast or a corn tortilla filled with carnitas and guacamole for dinner — either way you serve them tortillas are delicious. One of my fondest memories is of my mom standing over the comal making us tortillas each morning.  Her precise movements as she swiftly rolled out each tortilla, the smell of the heated comal and the anticipation of grabbing the first tortilla form the top of stack — these are the tasty memories that I have of tortillas.

Fast forward to the future; now with children of my own, I hope to pass my love of tortillas to them by teaching them to make tortillas the same way my mom taught me. We knead the dough together; practice our rolling skills and carefully flip our tortillas on the comal. But on some days when we feel like having a bit of extra fun, we infuse our tortillas with fun flavors!

Infusing tortillas with flavor is easy, fun and a great way to get the kids involved. By simply replacing the water with a flavored liquid you can add a whole new flavor dimension to your meals. My children love to make strawberry tortillas for breakfast and are addicted to using blueberry tortillas for quesadillas. I love making chile infused tortillas for parties and when guests come for dinner. Infused tortillas are a hit with my family and I can be proud that the love of tortillas is carried onto another generation.
