Airbnb is no longer just for scoring a cool one-night stay on a weekend getaway. The company recently rolled out local-led immersions called Experiences that invites people to enjoy the beauty of Harlem in a new, hands-on way.
Harlem Experiences lets visitors “get to know the people and places driving the neighborhood’s world-famous food, art, music and nightlife”, according to a press release from the hospitality company. Three Experiences rolled out today: for the street style fashionista, Street Fashion with Dapper Dan; for the hip hop kid, El Barrio Expedition with Bodega Bamz; and for the active foodie, Bikes and Bites.
Though each of the experiences includes food in some capacity, Bikes and Bites, in particular, focuses on Harlem’s numerous restaurants. The excursion, which was created by Maxine, the founder of the popular I Bike Harlem guided tour, is inspired by the Harlem Renaissance and ends at one of Maxine’s favorite soul food restaurants.
Airbnb will soon launch additional experiences in other cities, but for now, it’s Harlem’s time in the spotlight.
