Teigen and husband John Legend welcomed a baby girl in the spring of 2016. After battling mysterious physical and emotional pain for several months, she was diagnosed with PPD at the end of hte same year.
Her diagnosis meant putting a halt to her second cookbook.
Teigen’s first cookbook, released last year, Cravings: Recipes For All the Food You Want to Eat, is a collection of the foods she loves, eats, and makes at home with her family. It was an instant success and a second cookbook was forthcoming.
But Teigen wrote: “I didn’t have an appetite. I would go two days without a bite of food, and you know how big of a deal food is for me.” So she reached out to her editors, asking for time.
“With the first, I was in the kitchen the whole time,” she said. “I stirred every pot, tasted everything. Had genuine excitement for Every. Single. Recipe. This one came at the height of my losing my appetite, and the idea of having to test and taste recipes actually made me vomit. I was still on the couch a lot.”
Luckily, her publishers understood and are pushing Teigen’s release date.
