Did you think kiwi was a summer fruit? We did too. It’s so fresh, so sweet, we figured it couldn’t possibly come from the barren land we’re seeing these days. But we’re wrong! Kiwis are in season starting in October and straight through till May. California produces 98 percent o the kiwifruit grown in U.S. and the harvest happens in October and early November. Meaning those gorgeous kiwis are hitting your markets know. Here are a few of our favorite recipes.
Take a break from all that heavy winter food and lighten up with a strawberry kiwi salad. Just throw together mixed greens, sliced strawberries, and sliced kiwi and dress with a mix of strawberry vinegar and pungent mustard powder. Need some protein? Add sliced chicken, shrimp, or cubed tofu.
