The Cuban sandwich is a classic: layers of ham, swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard on toasted bread. It's savory, it's filling, it's layers upon layers of sabor. And there are as many ways to enjoy them as there are Cuban abuelas with their own recipes. Here are a few of our favorite. And a little bonus for another Cuban classic: the medianoche. Medianoches are made with a sweet, eggy bread and we know you'll love those too.
This is the straight up classic version. Crusty bread (preferably straight from the panaderia) slathered with butter and then layered with pork, ham, Swiss cheese, and dill pickles. Then the whole sandwich is pressed until the bread is toasted and the cheese melted.
