    Strawberry Basil Smash with Cava

If you have never tried cava, Spain’s take on bubbly wine, you should. Its production method mimics that of traditional champagne from the Champagne region of France, but the price tag is generally more wallet friendly. Sweet, ripe strawberries, pungent basil and tangy balsamic elevate this brunch-ready cocktail.

    Ingredients
    4
to 5 large ripe strawberries, washed and finely chopped
    4
to 5 big basil leaves, washed and finely chopped
    2
    tablespoons
    honey
    *
    balsamic vinegar
    1
    750-ml bottle cava
    *
    ice cubes
    Directions
Mix strawberries, basil leaves and honey in a bowl and allow to sit for 30 minutes.
Fill 4 mason jars or other 16 ounce tumblers with ice. Add two to three tablespoons strawberry mixture plus a splash of balsamic vinegar to glasses.
Top with cava and enough water to fill glass. Serve and enjoy immediately.
