Orange Honey Pork Meatballs

Everyone will fall in love with this easy to make, flavorful, and fun meatball recipe. Orange Honey Pork Meatballs can be served as appetizer or as lunch or dinner with bread, pasta, rice, quinoa, salad, yucca, pumpkin, or carrot puree or a side of zucchini and squash. Add a serrano or jalapeño chile for a spicy touch.


Ingredients
For the Meatballs

ground pork

clove
garlic, minced

egg

salt and pepper to taste

chile serrano or jalapeño, minced
For the Sauce
*
juice and zest of 1 orange

tablespoons
low sodium soy sauce

tablespoon
honey or agave
2
tablespoons
Olive Oil
1
tablespoon
Chopped Cilantro
Directions
In a bowl, mix the pork, garlic, egg, serrano or jalapeño and lightly season with salt and pepper.
Using your hands, shape 10-12 meatballs similar to a small burger patty and set aside in the refrigerator.
In another bowl, combine the zest and orange juice, soy sauce, honey or agave and set aside.
In a sauté pan over medium high heat, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and cook meatballs for 2 minutes on one side.
Then flip over the meatballs, add the sauce, and scrape the bottom of the pan using a wood or rubber spoon. Cook for 2 more minutes and reduce the heat to medium low until meatballs are cooked through and sauce has thickened.
Add cilantro and serve immediately.
