    Oats with Berries and Nuts 

    This is the perfect recipe if you need to load up on carbohydrates. Eat a half a cup of cooked steel-cut oats topped with your favorite berries and almonds to get you ready for your workout. The oats will help you stay full through your workout releasing little amounts of sugar, giving you energy to push through the last 10 minutes of cardio.

    steel cut oats

    milk

    cinnamon

    vanilla extract

    cup
    mixed berries

    ounces
    chopped almonds
    Directions
    In a medium saucepan over medium high heat add the tablespoon of butter. Once melted add the steel cut oats. Stir the steel cut oats for 2 minutes until toasted.
    Stir in the milk, 1 cup water, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. One the mixture has come to a boil reduce the heat to low and allow the steel cut oats to simmer for 35 minutes.
    Spoon into serving bowls and top with berries and almonds.
