    Oatmeal with Bacon and Maple Syrup

    Because everything is better with bacon, start your day with this sweet and savory dish: oatmeal doused in dark maple syrup and topped with crisp and salty bacon. 


    Ingredients

    bacon, chopped
    1/2
    cup
    oats
    1
    cup
    milk
    1
    teaspoon
    vanilla
    1
    teaspoon
    cinnamon
    1
    tablespoon
    maple syrup
    Directions
    In a medium sauté pan over high heat; add bacon. Cook bacon on high for about 5 minutes until the pieces are crisp. Once the bacon has cooked, remove with a slotted spoon onto a paper towel to remove any excess oil.
    While the bacon is cooking, make the oats. In a sauce pan add oats, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon. Stir to combine. Cook oats until desired doneness—about 5 minutes until the oats are tender and the liquid has absorbed.
    To assemble, add oatmeal in a bowl, top with bacon, and drizzle with maple syrup.
