Carnaval Moscato Cocktail

Carnaval Moscato Cocktail

Rather than serving your sparkling wine solo, mix up a Moscato cocktail that’s chock full of citrus and tropical fruits. Look for Carnaval Moscato which is made in the Serra Gaúcha of Brazil’s southernmost state, Rio Grande do Sul, and was awarded a gold medal at the San Francisco International Wine Competition.

Ingredients
3
cups
whole berries (such as strawberries, blackberries, raspberries), washed and stemmed
3
cups
diced mango
3
cups
diced pineapple
2
oranges, cut into wedges
2
limes, cut into wedges
1
750-ml bottle Carnaval Moscato from Brazil
1/2
cup
sugar
2
shots
clear apricot or peach brandy
1
shot
light cachaça
1
cup
fruit-flavored seltzer water
8
mint sprigs or citrus wedges, for garnish
Directions
Put all the fruits in a pitcher and add the moscato, sugar, brandy and cachaça. Mix well and chill for 2 to 8 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the fruit to soak up the spirits.
Add ice to a large red wine glass and top with 1 ounce of sparkling soda. Fill with the cocktail, spooning some fruit into the glass and garnishing with a sprig of mint or a citrus wedge.
