    Capirotada

    Capirotada is a traditional Mexican dessert similar to bread pudding eaten during Lent.  


    Ingredients

    Nestle Carnation Evaporated Milk
    1

    Nestlé La Lechera Sweetened Condensed Milk
    1 1/2
    teaspoons
    ground cinnamon, divided
    1/2
    cup
    chopped pecans
    1/4
    cup
    packed brown sugar
    1/8
    teaspoon
    ground nutmeg
    1/8
    teaspoon
    ground cloves

    cubed whole wheat bread

    nonstick cooking spray
    Directions
    Whisk eggs, egg whites, evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk and ½ teaspoon cinnamon in a medium mixing bowl until well blended.
    Combine pecans, sugar, remaining 1 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves in a small bowl. Stir to combine.
    Spray the inside of a 5-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Place half the bread cubes in bottom of cooker. Sprinkle pecan mixture over bread. Top with remaining bread cubes.
    Pour egg mixture evenly over bread ensuring all pieces are covered.
    Cook on low for 3 to 4 hours or until center is set. Serve warm.
    Serving Suggestion: Sprinkle with powdered sugar and top with Nestle La Lechera Dulce de Leche.
