This refreshing mix of fruit and wine is drunk in Chile when the temperature rises and when the freshest fruit is in season. It can be served in a pitcher or in individual wine glasses and is best enjoyed with snacks or before dinner.
white table wine or inexpensive Sauvignon Blanc
Rinse, hull and slice strawberries and pat them dry. Place them in a non-reactive, glass or ceramic bowl.
Sprinkle the strawberries with sugar and mix well. Let the strawberries macerate with the sugar for 20 minutes.
Spoon a few tablespoons of strawberries into each wine glass.
Top with chilled white wine.
Use an ice cube or two if it’s very hot out, or you like your wine bien helado (very cold).
