    Bacon Wrapped Apple Onion Pinto Burger

    We all know that bacon can enhance any dish because, well, bacon is pretty amazing when it comes to flavor. A crispy, sweet, and salty strip tenderly wraps an apple onion pinto burger, combining intense fruity and savory  flavors in each bite. Let the drooling begin!


    Ingredients

    bacon

    apple (peeled; cored and diced)

    large onion (diced)
    1/2
    cup
    pureed cooked pinto beans
    1/2
    cup
    whole cooked pinto beans
    1
    cup
    panko bread crumbs
    1
    teaspoon
    ground ancho chili
    1
    teaspoon
    Olive Oil

    salt and pepper to taste
    Directions
    Preheat a skilled on medium-high heat. Add onions and sauté until caramelized. Set aside.
    In a medium bowl add apple, caramelized onion, chili, puree, beans and bread crumbs. Mix thoroughly until ingredients are evenly distributed. Add salt and pepper to taste.
    Shape 4 oz patties and set aside on parchment paper. Wrap each patty with 1 strip of bacon, securing with a toothpick.
    Lower pan to medium heat. Pan-fry burgers for 7-10 minutes on each side until bacon is crisp and crunchy.
    Enjoy hot with favorite burger toppings.
