Spent your whole week answering emails in a cubicle, huh? Well you missed a lot! Game of Thrones announced a new White Walker-themed beer, Chipotle started cooking up exciting new dishes (for New Yorkers only, boo!), and menudo was finally named the best hangover cure ever! Oh, and something is going on with Russia. But let's be real, we had you at "Game of Thrones".
You probably haven't heard, but the little-known HBO fantasy series, Game of Thrones, returns this Sunday. In anticipation of the new season, Ommegang Brewery announced the fall release of their new beer, "Winter is Here", a Belgian-style double white ale. GoT fans rejoiced to see the face of the show's villain and pseudo ice-zombie, The Night King, on the beer's label (white ale... winter ice zombies... we see what you did there). This cerveza is the latest in an on-going line of GoT-themed beers created in conjunction with the show's developers to honor fan-favorite locations and mottos from George R. R. Martin's universe.
This week, First We Feast endeavored to answer the age old question: "Do hangover cures actually work?" In a hilarious video, First We Feast's Sean Evans and comedian Bert Kreischer got hangovers (you know, for science) and tested hangover cures around the world. Which was a reigning champ? Pues, Mexican menudo of course!
Heads up, NYC, Chipotle opened up a test kitchen called NEXT on 6th Ave. There Chipotle will be testing new technology and potential recipes to see what consumers respond well to. Chief among these news options: gooey, melty queso! The test kitchen seems to be a way of cleaning up Chipotle's act following years of declining sales and E.coli outbreaks at their outposts. Lucky for them, cheese does make everything better, so it seems Chipotle is on the right track.
Forget rolled ice cream for a second, the new hottness in the world of helados is rose ice cream. Not ice cream made with rose flavoring, but ice cream that is poked with a scooper until it looks like a rose. If that sounds stupid, it's cause it is. And we're not the only ones who think so. Chrissy Teigen at her Chrissy Teigen-est threw some serious shade in a recent tweet.
