Carolyng Gomes writes about Latino culture, cuisine and her adventures as a first generation Latina. Though she went to university for Environmental Law, she left with a Masters in English Language and Latino Studies and a passion for cultural expression through food. A writer, photographer, recipe developer and happy home cook, she contributes to Zomppa and is the Honest Cooking Cocina Latina columnist. Carolyng lives, cooks, eats and randomly does salsa on the sidewalks of the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. She resides there with her partner, Lee Cherry, and her pup, Napoleon. Born and raised in New York by a Venezuelan mother and Portuguese father, Carolyng was surrounded by ridiculously delicious food. She is currently working on her first cookbook, highlighting her favorite dishes and recipes rooted in her cultural background, full of plenty of sass and Latin flair.
